Barbara van den Berg graduated from School of Art and Design in Den Bosch in 2003. After her studies she co-founded Studio BEET, an agency for graphic design and illustration. Barbara evolved into an eclectic artist with a comprehensive practice that encloses painting, digital collage, photography, charcoal, typography and stop-motion production.

Exploring a multitude of different media, Van den Berg has a distinctive knowledge of how best to manifest her artistic visions. The diverse experiments in the language of expression is an underpinning feature throughout her oeuvre. As a child she lived in an almost pepetual state of observation, constantly fixated by human behavior.

Barbara’s work characterizes by a contemporary, pop-playful aesthetic, her art carries a conceptual message that remains sharp in its critique. Barbara van den Berg uses cut pieces from old magazines. She approaches the disposable culture in which trends follow each other quickly. Using existing and residual materials the artist creates layers and emphasizes the complexity what is behind the visible and, by using Pop and contemporary elements, as well as historical elements Van den Berg emphasizes the enduring power of female canons.

She uses conventional and digital techniques and knows how to give her creations their own soul what is fantastic.
